At last night’s board meeting, we welcomed Carlos Dipres to the Colonial School Board.

Carlos was born and raised in the Dominican Republic. He holds a BA in Hotel Management from the Universidad Iberoamericana. He traveled internationally in the resort industry for eight years before arriving in the U.S. in 1997. As a Delawarean, Carlos has dedicated his career to the non-profit sector, working for organizations such as the American Cancer Society, Children and Families First, the University of Delaware, Delaware Developmental and Disabilities Services, and First State Community Action Agency. His passion has been directed explicitly toward aiding the needs of minority populations. In 2011, he successfully led a coalition of parents that fought the decision to terminate a dual-language program.

Carlos has served on the boards of the Wilmington Head Start, DE State PTA, Aspira of Delaware Inc., First State Educate, and the New Castle County Prevention Coalition. He has been a Latino advisor for various political candidates. Currently, he is the Senior Community Relations Manager for WM in Delaware, where he assists with developing a strategy and programs designed to represent the organization favorably and make positive contributions to the community.
